SERGAPONLINE.COM ROHIL – The Regency Government of Rokan Hilir, led by Regent H. Bistamam, has reaffirmed its strong commitment to accelerating local development and promoting strategic investment opportunities. Regent Bistamam, recognized as one of Riau Province’s most active regional leaders, engaged in a high-level audience with the Ministry of Investment and several other key ministries in Jakarta two month ago. The meeting, attended by multiple regional heads, provided a platform for each district to highlight its flagship economic sectors while discussing challenges and opportunities in advancing downstream industrialization policies at the regional level. Regent Bistamam underlined that Rokan Hilir is well-positioned with diverse strategic potentials, particularly in agriculture, plantation-based industries, and local resource processing. He expressed optimism that these strengths would attract national and international investors, enabling the government to accelerate the implementation of priority projects. “Rokan Hilir possesses abundant resources capable of generating significant economic value. By opening doors for investors, we aim to strengthen livelihoods, create added value, and meet the community’s economic needs,” he emphasized. In addition to promoting commodities, the Regent highlighted the importance of strategic infrastructure, including the Sinaboi–Dumai road project, housing development programs, and other initiatives aimed at improving public welfare. The discussions also extended to the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, with strong support from Riau Governor Abdul Wahid, who presented provincial development needs and potentials with comprehensive data. The outcomes of the meetings were promising. According to H. Mursal, Head of Rokan Hilir’s Office of Communications and Informatics, the region received positive responses, particularly regarding opportunities to establish a coconut copra processing plant and seaweed processing facilities. Mursal, a senior official, further introduced purple yam as a high-potential commodity, capable of producing up to 600 tons per month yet still largely untapped. “The Ministry of Investment responded enthusiastically and even expressed readiness to conduct a direct visit to Rokan Hilir to follow up on these opportunities,” he said. Through these initiatives, Rokan Hilir seeks to position itself as a competitive and sustainable hub within Indonesia’s national development agenda
